Even though Himalayan singing bowls are made of metal and look solid, please remember that they are very fragile! Some antique bowls have such a thin bottom that you can hear a clicking sound or even make a hole if you press it with a finger. Always put the bowl on something soft, such as a rubber shelf liner. If you put a bowl on a wooden surface, check that this surface is totally flat with no nails sticking out or any other firm particles. Always be gentle with your instrument. Some manufacturers still follow the old tradition by hand hammering singing bowls and in some cases, the results are pretty amazing. Other manufacturers produce singing bowls by pressing, casting and cutting on turning machines, but the work they do pales in comparison to the work of the alchemy masters of the past.

There are so many different speculations about the original purpose of singing bowls. And you may ask what is a Tibetan singing bowl used for? The majority of experts claim that they were used as utilitarian vessels for eating, drinking, and storing food. Also, bowls were, and still are, being used for collecting donations. However, the sound properties of singing bowls have been acknowledged for centuries. The variety of shapes of antique sound healing bowls indicates that acoustic properties were of primary importance.

The late '80s brought to the New Age community a very interesting instrument with angelic tone - crystal singing bowl.

The crystal bowls are very popular these days and are a really good sounding instrument. Not many sound practitioners know how these bowls are being manufactured.

Some people may purchase a singing bowl just because they like the sound and that's all, but if you are looking for the instrument for special practice, then you should determine first what you are willing to do with the bowl. Most of the singing bowls we sell are good for personal and group meditation practice and healing work, but not all the bowls are ideal for massaging, reflexology singing bowls or space cleansing.

Sound therapy and light therapy also known as color therapy, are two distinct modalities that aim to promote healing and well-being. While they both operate on the principle of utilizing energy for therapeutic purposes, they differ in their methods and mechanisms.

It's easy to convert the units of sound (Hertz) to units of specific diffraction of light (Nanometers - nm), but please don't forget that by simply converting units, you are not performing any alchemy; you are merely determining the equivalent manifestation of a tone as a color.

The most important aspect of sound healing is to harmonize the energetic field and physical body of the person you are treating. It doesn't matter if you are a sound healer or if you are just using sound as a tool for meditation, all you want is to align yourself and your client with the sound you choose. So why not choose the HARMONIOUS source of sound?!

In my practice, I use different combinations of tones - consonant and dissonant. It all depends on what goal I would like to achieve with the client.

Despite the differences in musical systems and instruments, the underlying principles of music remain the same - a mathematical foundation of frequencies and harmonics that create beauty of form and expression of emotion. Whether it's through the traditional Western tonal music or the unique sound of singing bowls, music has the power to evoke emotions, connect people, and transcend language and cultural barriers.

Becoming a master of your own mind is the common goal of all mindfulness practices. By observing your habits, by listening to your thoughts, by being true to yourself you take control of your life. Conscious listening is the key to well being.

One of the modern approaches to sound healing modality is matching the tones of the instruments (gongs, singing bowls, tuning forks) to "planetary frequencies". The planetary frequencies, in this case, are not the vibrations of a planet (planetary surface or its heartbeat), but the orbital period!
