18th Century
Heavy, thick-wall Jambati. Very interesting, breathtaking instrument. This bowl is an ideal sample of sonic harmony. The fundamental tone is 116Hertz, which is A# (LA#) of the second octave. The first overtone is just one Hertz below the note F (FA) of the fourth octave, and the ratio between the overtone and the fundamental tone is 3 (348/116) even! The second overtone is exactly an octave above the first one! (There is exactly an octave between the first and the second overtones). This sound is very empowering and relaxing at the same. It leaves no neutral emotional response. This bowl is an easy player - just rub the rim, and the bowl will sing equally good low and high tones (depending on the playing technique and type of a mallet). Excellent to use in individual meditation practice and private healing sessions. It could be placed with other bowls as a set for group meditation. This bowl is equally good for beginners and experienced practitioners. Excellent bowl for massaging (M-5)
